Hello. My name is Adam, and I live in Sheffield with my wife and dog.

I once blogged at a moderately successful film-orientated website named Hope Lies at 24 Frames Per Second, but chose to retire the site on its 10th anniversary for no real reason. I have also written extensively in a freelance capacity, for organisations such as Sight & Sound and Eureka Entertainment, and have been involved with film-related events at institutions such as the ICA. I am now a copywriter in the furniture industry.

I have started Le Petit Soldat as a platform to write about my interests, which run from cinema, to art, to architecture and design, and fashion. It’s going to be a place where I write about the things in life that make the whole thing more enjoyable. Good coffee, interesting furniture, nice clothes, great movies, weird vulcanised trainers from Japan. I might even write about music, which is something I haven’t done for a good fifteen years. Whatever takes my interest basically. I’m not going to impose any requirements on myself; there may be weeks or even months between posts, or there might be five in one day (I suspect the initial burst of enthusiasm will lead to a few posts in the opening week or two at least). I’m not going to bother with word count limits or minimums or anything like that either. I’m going to attempt to write early on a Sunday morning, as the intended pace of this lends itself well to that time of the week.

I hope that you enjoy this new website.
